Bibi Lazy Bahjis

Bibi’s Lazy Bajiya! I posted her making these on Instagram stories and you everyone was desperate for her quick recipe. Usually we add other veg which you can of course do. But most of the time bibi is feeling lazy! So this is her quick fix.

* Disclaimer these are her “I can’t be bothered to chop other veg Bajiya” She doesn’t use measurements so you’ll need to watch the video here to see the consistency.


  • Ingredients:

  • 2-3 cups of chickpea flour

  • 1 Large Onion chopped into small pieces

  • 1 Large potato cut into small pieces

  • Green Chillies Chopped finely

  • 1 TSP Turmeric Powder

  • Salt

  • Water (Add gradually till you have a paste yet runny consistency, best to check the video like bibi said )

  • 2 Tsp Baking Powder

  • 1-2 Litres Vegetable Oil for frying

  1. Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well till you have a thick batter and then add baking powder and leave to sit for about 15 minutes.

  2. Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan. Enough to allow you to deep fry.

  3. Using a spoon drop your batter into the oil.

  4. Keep turning them in the oil till they have puffed up and turned golden brown!

  5. We eat them with a tamarind dip or coconut & coriander chutney 😋
